Greetings from Camp Ak-O-Mak!
Plans are well underway for the 2018 Ak-O-Mak Volunteer Work Weekend to be held May 19th, 20th and 21st. Camp Ak-O-Mak turns 90 this year so, with your help, we’d like to get our “Grand and Dame gussied up” for the celebrations!
Winter on Ahmic Lake is hanging on til the bitter end delaying our first reconnaissance trip until May. As soon as we assess how camp came through winter, Dianne will be crafting duty lists for all of us "friends". Rest assured, work weekend has gotten easier every year…(a good thing for certain “middle-aged” bodies!) Jim Fraser and his work crew will be on site Friday with supplies set up for the ensuing days.
We are very excited that Chef Samson (of "Cooking With Sam" fame) will be working his culinary magic again this year, feeding the troops, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
So….Please.. RSVP ASAP and BYOB if you are able to join us! (LOL)
We need numbers of people, food allergies, arrival / departure times so we can plan housing and food (which we provide). Since Sam will be preparing meals for us, we will endeavour to gather at 9:30 am for breakfast and our "marching orders" for the day!
Dianne and Catherine are planning to arrive late Thursday and leave early Tuesday in case that helps with your travel plans.
Please bring old work clothes for any weather. Work/painting gloves are also essential.
We look forward to a fun, productive weekend, catching up with everyone over fine food and drink, so pack your sleeping bag, appetite and come out and play!
Hope to see you at Camp!
