Sun July 1st:
Happy Canada Day! We started off today bright and early at 5:30am, to have a quick breakfast and get on the road for the North Bay Triathlon! Our younger campers competed in the Kids of Steel triathlon yesterday, and today was the Try-A-Tri for our older campers and counsellors. Everyone had a great time cheering on Ak-O-Mak and the other competitors. After a successful morning we headed onto the buses for lunch, swimming and ice cream in Magnetawan. The weather was beautiful and the campers had a great time playing in the water at Magnetawan Centennial Park. Ice cream was the perfect treat to cool us down from the heat! After a nice visit in Magnetawan we headed back to camp in time for rest hour and open waterfront before dinner. We enjoyed a delicious dinner of cous cous, sausages and roasted vegetables with popsicles for dessert. After dinner we all gathered at the boathouse for an evening activity of paddling! We took out 3 war canoes and all of the campers had the chance to practice their paddling skills. It was the perfect day to celebrate Canada Day!
