Sunday July 22nd:
We had the best weekend at the Ottawa Regatta! We loaded the buses after early bird and breakfast on Friday morning to head off to Ottawa. We arrived in Ottawa mid-afternoon and had some time to check into the hotel and get settled before heading to dinner for a buffet at Tuckers Marketplace! Afterwards we had a chance to walk around and shop at the Byward Market and the Rideau Centre before settling in for an early night. We woke up bright and early for a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon and hashbrowns at the hotel before heading out to Carleton Place for the paddling regatta! We had a wonderful day full of small boats and war canoe races and the campers all did a fantastic job! It was so much fun to watch and cheer everyone on the whole day. After a full day of racing we enjoyed pizza at for dinner, before heading back to the hotel to clean up for the lights show at Parliament Hill! We headed back to the hotel after the light show, and everyone was ready for bed after such a busy day. We woke up Sunday morning with breakfast at the hotel and we had a bit of time to relax before heading to the Tanger Outlets for shopping and lunch. We arrived back to camp in time for a delicious dinner of burgers or sausages with salad and cake. The evening finished off with singing campfire songs in front of the fire in the mainhouse due to some rain. We had such a busy and great weekend full of paddling and fun in the city, but it is definitely great to be back at camp!
