August 21

Waking up to an unexpected clear morning today allowed the girls to participate in their usual early bird activities of swimming, running, and paddling. Once everyone was dry and changed into their cozy clothes we headed up for a breakfast of hard boiled eggs and toast, as well as our typical cereals and oatmeal. At inspection, each cabin was spotless! The bunks were made, trunks were clean, and a few cabins had even made songs and poems to recite when I arrived. As the weather held up, the whole camp was off to swim practice, working on their open water swimming and different draft line formations. During the next class, cheering was heard throughout the camp while the oldest cabins played each other in a game of softball and the youngest cabins played each other in soccer. The third class was lead by Jocelyn as the whole camp participated in a running clinic, learning technique and trying different dynamic stretches. After lunch, candy store, and rest hour we gathered to compete in a Team Comp version of “Scuttlebugs” where each team had to sneak quietly through the jungle main house careful to not wake the “sleeping lion”. The campers then had the rest of the afternoon to prepare and rehearse a cabin Lip Sync which was performed after dinner. After watching so many fun and unique Lip Sync routines, Cabin 4, with a complex and hilarious routine was crowned the winner. Everyone is now back in their cabins to sleep through the rain and we are looking forward to a bright and sunny day expected for tomorrow.
