Remembering Bob Duenkel
We are saddened to learn of the passing of our dear friend Bob Duenkel, from Camp Chikopi. Bob passed away this morning, after a lengthy illness, at his home in Fort Lauderdale surrounded by his family.
Bob will be fondly remembered by alumni, campers and staff from both Camp Chikopi and Ak-O-Mak. His gentle nature and kind leadership made him a wonderful mentor to youth from all over the world. Bob was a legendary story teller and perhaps most famous for his many renditions of “Old Man Barlow”.
Bob played an instrumental role in the International Swimming Hall of Fame and you can read a lovely tribute to Bob written by ISHOF director, Bruce Wigo.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Bob’s wife, Colette, and their daughter, Teagan.
