What an amazing first camp day here at Akomak! After a fun night on Thursday of cabin bonding and a camp tour, all the campers headed off to bed to rest up for the first full day of activities. This morning camp came to life as soon as the breakfast bell rang and we all headed up to the main house. After filling up on scrambled eggs, hash browns, and sausages, the campers were back off to their cabins to get ready for their first inspection. Once everyone’s bunk was tidy and bags were packed each cabin was off to their morning classes. Each group participated in a combination of swimming, canoeing, paddle boarding, and other sports in our back fields. The sun continued to shine throughout lunch and rest hour, and once the afternoon began everyone was thrilled to head back down to the water for an introduction to paddling down by the boathouse. The laughter and smiles were contagious as the campers took our new racing boats out for a spin. After an eventful day, we enjoyed a hearty dinner of pasta and meatballs with a garden salad and roasted veggies on the side. Once the brownie desserts were finished the whole camp met on the soccer field to finish the day with our favourite camp variations of tag. We are so thrilled to have such a fun group of campers to kick off the 2019 Akomak season!
