The World’s First All Girls Swimming Camp
LOCATION AND CAMP FACILITIES
Camp Ak-O-Mak is situated on the shores of Ahmic Lake, a 3 ½ hour drive north of Toronto in the picturesque Parry Sound region of Ontario, Canada.
Our campers enjoy 400 acres of scenic property including 1.5 km of private waterfront, 25 and 50-metre pools built into the lake, family style home-cooked meals, an on-site medical infirmary run by licensed healthcare staff and comfortable cabins with 2 to 3 counsellors each.
Daily Swim Training
Campers take part in daily swim practice, with the chance to swim up to three times per day depending on their age, ability, goals, the daily schedule and the weather.
Girls train with professional coaches who have competed at the national, international and even Olympic levels. Novice swimmers will experience rapid improvements in their strokes while competitive swimmers will further improve their technique, endurance and speed.
Triathlon and Open Water Swimming
Anytime our canoes go out, you’ll usually see some girls swimming beside them. Open water swimming is a great way to ditch the pool and develop increased endurance, stroke rate, rhythm and mental fortitude.
All campers also have the opportunity to “try a tri”. Beginners learn the fundamentals while experienced youth triathletes will improve their performance, and even compete in local competitive triathlons throughout the summer.
