If you have ever met the Puckering family, then it will come as no surprise that Hannah Puckering was born to be Camp Ak-O-Mak’s Program Director!
Hannah has literally grown up at Ak-O-Mak. As a young competitive swimmer, Hannah decided to trade ‘horse camp’ for swim camp and was ‘hooked’ Day 1! We’re not sure what happened to the horse, but Hannah enjoyed the next five summers as an Ak-O-Makker, swimming, biking, running and paddling; an equestrian turned an all-round athlete!
The past four summers, Hannah has been a valuable staff member where her myriad skills and warm personality have made her a wonderful camp counsellor and mentor to our Ak-O-Mak girls.
Hannah is a proud “Gryphon” at the University of Guelph where she studies Biological Science (with a minor in neuroscience). She is currently interested in Geriatric Neuroscience and Social Gerontology…at least during the school year. When camp is in session, Hannah can be found running the trails, Coxing the War Canoe, racing a triathlon or maybe enjoying a 1 or 2 mile open-water “dip” in the lake, encouraging her young campers all the way!
